Thread Addendum (Shave) Gages

API 5B 5.5.2 Thread Addendum

Per API 5B 5.5.2 Thread addendum “shall be measured on round thread.”

Thread addendum is now a required, mandatory element to be inspected.

Thread Check Inc. offers several Gagemaker models for inspecting thread addendum (a.k.a. shave) gages. Please specify the type of thread when ordering.

Thread addendum (previously refer to as Thread Shave) is the distance from the thread crest to the pitch line. The addendum is a shorter distance than the Thread Height. The thread addendum is usually only measured and controlled on tubing and casing 60° V threads (8 Round,10 Round, and Line Pipe).Measurement of the thread addendum is now a requirement on all round thread per API 5B 5.5.2.

Addendum gages require setting with a particular standard. Standards are sold separately.
